I had a Black+Decker 12V drill which smoked out during my backyard fence repair… I ordered this set instead picking up at local big box store since the employees were unresponsive and the products were locked out for me to check out. What a shame! Home Depot!
Anyway, unlike the weakling B+D 12V, drilling 4″ by 4″ fence with this tool felt like poking a ‘heated butter’ smooth. (or ice cream smooth) I had to take painkillers feeling my shoulders burning after installing blinds with the B+D 12V drill but with this one… I felt like I can build a deck myself!
The included 20 V 2Ah batteries charge ~ an hour and equipped with battery level indicator. They are only 2 Ah capacity which might feel a bit short for real professionals but for home maintenance jobs, the batteries are still overkill since… the drills are extremely effective!! Anything takes more than 20-30 seconds to drill with the B+D 12V, those guys can do it < 2 seconds. I was drilling with a budget Ryobi drill bit set and thought the bits were the problem before getting this DeWalt… Nope, it was the drill!!
As I’ve seen some YouTube reviews, the Drill, DCD800 is one of a masterpiece stuff in the market. Although it doesn’t have hammering functionality which may be a must have for a serious home DIYers. But I would rather get a specialized hammer drill than buying a drill can do hammer. The ‘toe’ LED lamp with 20 minute runtime is also great for many situations. I sometimes take this drill to take my dog out to backyard at night.
The Impact driver seems to be a bit of off the grid. I mean, a bonus feature at best, not a main player. It is an old model DCF887 which is still great for my usage but not as great as recent releases. I think they should have included the DCF850 instead of DCF887 to pair up the drill’s quality. Yet still, having not used any high-end impact driver, everything feels butter smooth. Moreover, the drill(DCD850) usually does pre-drilling before screwing any pieces. In fact, I’ve never used the 3rd gear speed setting. Light trigger press with 1st or 2nd gear setting was good enough for slow start. I wish it had more sensitive (more speed control) trigger, though.
One gripe is…. they are too powerful. Any unintended operation, i.e. accidently pressing the trigger, could cause real injury. I guess that’s why the manual says the direction switch must be in neutral (which is ‘safety’ position) when not in use.
Overall, it’s a bit pricey and impact driver is a bit lacking. But shows what ‘high-end’ stuffs is capable of.

Ce que j’ai apprécié avec cette perceuse et ce pilote d’impact, c’est leur grande efficacité. J’ai pu aisément percer du bois de chêne avec une simple bêche de 1/2 po pour construire une étagère. En outre, le pilote d’impact est tellement performant qu’il n’a aucun mal à enfoncer des vis à décalage 1/4″ dans du pin 2x4s. Avec la batterie 4.0A, j’avais l’impression d’avoir entre les mains une perceuse filaire tellement la puissance était au rendez-vous.
Enfin, j’ai aimé la grande précision de ces outils. En disposant de deux réglages de vitesse sur la perceuse et le pilote d’impact ainsi qu’un déclencheur de vitesse variable, j’ai pu travailler sur des matériaux plus fragiles en toute sécurité.

So many things great about this. Super low profile, light weight, adjustable speeds that are useful, brushless. I wish I had upgraded from my fully functional old cordless sooner. It is a solid drill, but these are just so much lighter and easier to use. Great buy.

Always great to buy product from dewalt. The impact driver could have been the 45, but the 87 is still great anyway. The drill is great and has the hammer. The 4amp batteries are amazing. I recommend buying this on sale.

As usual, good Dewalt quality for home use. Full basement reno was completed and the tools and battery don’t’s show any degradation. Very powerful and easy to use. The short impact driver was useful in many situations. It is not the first Dewalt set I bought, but I was surprise with the power the tools can provide. Very happy

A very well made drill and impact driver which will allow you to do plenty of work using these 2 tools. There are 2 x 2ah batteries included and the charger. In addition there are 2 belt clips to attach to the tools, use a screw driver to screw the bolts in
Very well made tools just wished the prices of these things would come down a bit.
