Nice tool to have.

angle drills are obviously handy for some spots that are tight in certain ways that make it difficult for a regular handheld drill.
Its not very high powered compared to some of its competitors, but it gets the job done well enough! And I got it for a pretty good price so good deal overall.

Lots of power and typical DeWalt good quality. Came quickly and did the job as expected.. far superior to any of the right angle drill attachments I have tried.

DeWalt quality tool. There are spaces that require a short drill and this works for me.
Uses their standard rechargeable batteries.
Drove 3” wood screws into 2×4 and base plywood with plenty of torque.
Does NOT have a clutch like their other battery powered tools. Does have an extended trigger lever which gives me room to hold it while reaching for screw.
Recommend for tight spaces where either a drill is needed or a fastener.

I decided to buy this, as I already had the Dewalt batteries for my other tools and have been very pleased. Although it would have been a lot cheaper to use a right angle drill adapter, I decided to spent the extra $ and buy an actual right angle drill. It was a great decision, as the drill has a lot of torque and could get into places that a drill adapter could not. Also, since this is a complete assembly, it was much easier to use in tight spaces. The only negative is that the outer chuck is plastic and presumably the gears too… I would have preferred a metal chuck and gears for long term robustness.

This feels like a quality tool, and although Amazon Canada indicates its Chinese-made, that’s a typo-goofical error: Amazon US gets it right, DeWalt will tell you the truth, and that’s why I got one. Esta hecho en México.
Nor is that some kind of weasel-word marketing like the ‘assembled in America’ Dewalts that are emblazoned with Old Glory (cue the fife and drum) but in fact are put together in USA from kits sent over from ‘international sources’ (read China). Not this. This little gem comes unequivocally stamped Made in Mexico, although that’s not a hundred-percent deal; the charger and the neat little jump bag that comes with it are from China. It is really the only choice for ABC shoppers at any reasonable cost. (Not that there is anything wrong with Chinese quality — it’s just a matter of ethics for some of us.) This drill has a very tough build to it, lots of torque and good design. Two torque settings. If you grip it high you can manipulate the variable speed paddle trigger with all four non-thumbs, but you can also grip it low to use one trigger finger in the usual way. It excels at working in restricted spaces due to the right-angle layout, and it has a feature for that which isn’t mentioned in the online bumf: The chuck can take in a driver bit very deeply, leaving only the working tip exposed, for the lowest-profile power screwdriver configuration. But you don’t have to shove a drill bit all the way back if you need more of it to penetrate the work piece. The tool has an onboard LED light that is small but mighty. It is located below the chuck, so it causes the chuck and the bit to cast a shadow on the work, but that’s physics for you. All in all, there are no real complaints to be made here at all. Of course, that’s the opinion of a household DIY-er. If you ask some contractor Marlboro Man on da jawb site, you might hear different.

I’ve looked at purpose-built battery-powered sailboat winch crankers that go for over $1000 and even the adaptations of the heavy version of the large sized Milwaukee right angle unit that goes for several multiples of this one, then I saw the DeWalt right-angle drill on sale and snapped it up.
Paired with a “cranker” bit, it had surprising power on my 30’ boat. I I used it when I raised the main, unfurled and later rolled up my big Genoa, and tacked repeatedly in some fairly “sporty” winds. I have nothing but DeWalt tools at home, so I just used one of the bigger generic batteries I use for them , and it had plenty of power left when we got back on the dock. Note that it really helps to have self-tailing winches if you’re going to try this trick on your boat.
Not a usual use for a drill like this, but it had more than enough power for the task, just like all my other DeWalt gear.
