Nice shelving unit. It needs better directions as to which way the shelves go in other than photos. Do not use a rubber mallet to bang into place as the wires on the sides will bend a little if you do. I had the shelves upside down and used the mallet to get them to go down over the pieces that hold them in place. Once I realized I had them on upside down and turned them around they went on with just my hands sliding them down. I like the mats to put in the shelves so things don’t fall through. I wouldn’t put anything too heavy on the shelves without being sure the weight is evenly distributed. Wish there were wheels but all in all a nice shelf. Not heavy duty and it remains to be seen how long it will last.
I thought it was just a steel shelf but it has a coating on it that makes it look silvery so a little disappointed in that. Makes me wonder if this coating will chip off if scratched. So far so good

let me start by saying that i already have around 12-15 wire shelvig units from walmart (mainstays brand, so 5 shelves and 4 shelves @ $49 / $59 each) which are chromed, 3/4 posts and exceptionally durable, no rust in constant moisture (i use them for my plants during winter covered in vapor barrier plastic which is a very thick plastic used to cover insulation in walls and under the floor), if i remember each shelf 12×24″ is rated to hold something like 100 lbs if not more. and they do the job very well with my many heavy plants pots… they can be extended as needed. i also use them for organizing stuff, shoes etc… but the plants are by far the heaviest…
not this sleving unit… i knew it wasn’t chromed from the description, the pictures were not very clear since the silver looked like chrome… i chose this for the size since i have 2 plants that are very tall and i need to create a small 12×12 unit with only 2 racks (versus the 3 racks extended to 7′ i currently have in my mainstays brand)… so the posts are 5/8 which is smaller than my 3/4 so i cannot extend with rods i already have, not sure exactly how i will fix this… but my biggest surprise was the shelves: somebody not very bright though that if they weld the cylindrical holes backwards, then you can put that plastic cover inside the shelf and it would keep your items from falling… and i tried assembling the shelves backwards, but the cylindrical holes can only be installed in one way, because it’s not a perfect cylinder, it’s like a pyramid… and i checked all 5 shelves hoping at least 2 would be correctly welded, but no… i am no engineer, but this is why these shelves will not withstand too much weight, which i have to say it’s advertised… tip for the seller: if you weld the cylinders like they are supposed to, then you would at least triple the weight you can put on the shelves, the way you have it now, there is absolutely no support to the shelf besides those wires, even the perpendicular wire is on top of the wires, and it should be on the bottom! so, in conclusion, i paid extra for having a size that mainstays does not have, in a worse quality (no chrome and seriously badly engineered), that will hopefully keep the 2 big pots i need without bending/breaking, that i don’t know how i will extend yet without purchasing another shelving unit, i cannot find the metal connectors in this size or the 5/8 posts which seems to be an exceptionally small size… so for now i am disappointed… if i cannot figure out how to extend this, i will have to return it…

This is a great little shelf, it fits a spot perfectly that I needed it to fit at. It’s pretty sturdy. I have it on a carpet so it’s not going to be as sturdy as if it was on the floor, but that’s perfectly fine with me.
I would recommend this shelf.
